Job summary

CircleCI seeks an experienced backend engineer to build AI-native data platforms and scalable pipelines. You will own ClickHouse-based storage, ingestion from event streams, and durable workflows with Temporal, while ensuring fast, reliable data access for product teams and customers.

You will influence data domain decisions, lead architectural reviews, and strengthen observability with Honeycomb, Datadog, and Rollbar. A strong production backend background and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience building data-intensive systems, ingestion pipelines, or analytical datastores.
• Understanding of transactional vs analytical storage tradeoffs and schema design for high-volume workloads.
• Familiarity with Go, interface design, data modeling, and concurrency.
• Knowledge of distributed systems concepts, guarantees, idempotency, and failure recovery.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-native data platforms and pipelines for scalable analytics.
• Own and optimize ClickHouse-based storage and schemas for fast access.
• Design and maintain ingestion from event streams and durable workflows (Temporal).
• Provide data to product and customers with efficient query paths and caching.
• Lead architecture discussions and document decisions for future data domains.
• Champion observability using Honeycomb, Datadog, and Rollbar to monitor lag and latency.
• Drive speed and quality by moving from design to production swiftly.
