Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer (EAA) to lead architecture for Control Center, a secure platform powering internal data operations for thousands of users and AI agents. You will guide the evolution from a human-focused UI to a modular, AI-ready operations platform, driving MCP-based integration and secure, scalable backend services.

You will mentor engineers, own architectural decisions, and partner with product, security, and engineering teams to deliver high-impact platform

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Proven track record architecting and delivering backend services and APIs.
• Experience with cloud-native infrastructure and security controls.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture and delivery of platform capabilities (MCP tool registries, AI orchestration layers, access automation).
• Design MCP procedures, guardrails, HITL workflows, and evaluation frameworks for secure autonomous operations.
• Lead technical direction, design reviews, and mentoring across multiple teams.
• Build reliable distributed backend services with SLOs, observability, and incident readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver shared platform primitives.
