Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for Core AI Infrastructure. You will join a high-performing team building production-grade AI infrastructure, focusing on reliability, scalability, and security.

The role emphasizes end-to-end delivery of AI products, API design, and cross-team collaboration across the platform. Expect to work on distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and containerized workloads in a fast-paced, leadership-exposed environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience automating and supporting cloud infrastructure (AWS) and network environments.
• Hands-on use of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Salt.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Bash, Ruby, or Go) and Git-based CI/CD pipelines.
• Platform-builder mindset with proven history of designing reusable infrastructure, APIs, and abstractions.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of AI products by building production-grade distributed systems across the full stack.
• Drive platform adoption by designing APIs, abstractions, and developer-facing tooling for AI capabilities.
• Partner with engineering and product leadership to align infrastructure requirements and define platform contracts.
• Shape engineering standards and culture by establishing architectural patterns and mentoring engineers.
• Build full-stack applications that power internal AI products and infrastructure using Go or Python.
