Job summary

Fieldguide is hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join the Financial Audit team in San Francisco. You’ll own major workstreams, helping redefine financial audit with agentic-first software and AI-powered coding.

You’ll collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and audit SMEs, and push AI tools like Claude Code further. As a hands-on engineer, you’ll write production code daily, mentor peers, and influence product strategy from early on.

Qualifications

Seasoned full-stack engineer with experience delivering large projects.
Experience setting technical direction at team or org level.
Comfortable with ambiguity and undefined paths.
Strong collaborator who influences product and design decisions.
Using AI coding tools as part of daily work.

Responsibilities

Set technical direction for agentic financial audit experiences and architecture.
Own complex engineering problems from ambiguity to production.
Design and build agent-driven workflows with AI autonomy and human oversight.
Collaborate with product and design to shape what we build and when.
Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
Contribute to interview processes and scale the team.
