Job summary

Ovise Limited in NYC is seeking a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to own technical direction across the product, working directly with the founders. AI is central to the platform, so you’ll be building agentic and LLM-powered features from day one.

You’ll ship end-to-end features, establish patterns for AI components, and raise the engineering bar with code reviews, testing, CI/CD, and observability. On-site in NYC, hybrid schedule 4x per week; visa sponsorship not offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building production software, including Staff-level scope.
• Production experience shipping AI/LLM features.
• Thrives in early-stage ambiguity and ships fast without cutting corners.
• Bonus: durable workflows (Temporal or similar), design systems, open source, or public sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end, from data model to backend, frontend, and rollout.
• Build and set the patterns for agentic and LLM-powered features (RAG, tool-calling, structured extraction).
• Make AI reliable through evals, guardrails, and handling non-deterministic output.
• Build pipelines and interfaces over large, messy real-world datasets.

Staff Software Engineer - Up to $270K + 1% EQ - NYC, Hybrid (4x p/w)

Ovise has partnered exclusively on a Staff Engineering Search for a Series A govtech startup with $20M in funding, building AI-powered software that helps public sector organizations run more efficiently. Fast-growing, with strong customer demand and a small, high-ownership team.

What We’re Looking For

• $220K to $270K base + 0.25% to 1% equity
