Overview

Founding Engineer| $310,000| San Francisco (On-site)| Tech Agnostic

We have partnered with a fast-growing AI startup tackling a big, messy, genuinely exciting problem: how to scale customer support without losing what makes humans great, warmth, empathy, intuition. They’re using AI, generative tech, and real-time simulations to rethink how teams train, coach, and deliver great customer experiences. They've already been through YC and are already working with huge companies!

We’re looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to join a small, high-impact product team. This is a hands-on, ownership-heavy role where you’ll shape major technical decisions, build across the stack (frontend, backend, and AI integrations), and help architect things like:

• Advanced prompt engineering and retrieval pipelines
• Real-time multimodal simulations across voice, video, and chat
• High-performance user experiences

You’d be working closely with experienced founders and a tight-knit team in a fast-moving, collaborative environment the kind where the highs are genuinely high, and the work feels impactful!

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and launch the foundational backend infrastructure powering the platform
• Build and sustain robust, scalable, and secure distributed systems designed to meet high-throughput demands
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, CI/CD workflows, and monitoring tools, championing automation and a culture of operational excellence

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, with a strong history of developing, deploying, and maintaining sophisticated backend systems
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics; candidates with a Master’s or PhD are encouraged to apply
• Advanced proficiency in any tech stack, with solid grounding in systems-level programming concepts
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, API development, and data pipeline design for enterprise-scale platforms
