Job summary

Optomi in partnership with a premier client is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Server Infrastructure & Automation to modernize enterprise infrastructure across a large-scale hybrid environment. You will build software, automation, and infrastructure services for foundational compute across data centers.

The ideal candidate has a deep software mindset for infrastructure lifecycle management, orchestration, monitoring, and automation, with experience in bare-metal, cloud, and distributed

Qualifications

• 10+ years of infrastructure, systems, software, or platform engineering experience.
• Strong programming experience with Python, Go, or Java.
• Hands-on Python and Ansible experience is highly preferred.
• Strong Linux and bare-metal systems experience.
• Experience with infrastructure automation, IaC, and configuration management.
• Understanding of distributed systems, orchestration, cluster management, and infrastructure APIs.

Responsibilities

• Develop software and automation for server provisioning, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
• Build and maintain Python/Ansible automation and infrastructure playbooks.
• Automate bare-metal OS deployment and infrastructure configuration.
• Develop automated workflows for infrastructure monitoring, ticket creation, alerting, and remediation.
• Help establish self-monitoring and self-healing infrastructure capabilities.
• Analyze legacy infrastructure and identify opportunities for modernization and automation.
• Support hybrid cloud infrastructure initiatives and infrastructure platform development.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across servers, operating systems, networking, storage, and infrastructure software.
• Partner with infrastructure teams across networking, storage, cloud, and systems engineering.
• Develop reusable automation patterns, engineering standards, documentation, and operational procedures.
• Drive continuous improvements in infrastructure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Staff Software Engineer – Server Infrastructure & Automation

Job Type: Full-Time | Location: Remote, Quarterly Travel Required

Optomi, in partnership with one of our premier clients, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer – Server Infrastructure & Automation to help modernize and automate enterprise server infrastructure across a large-scale hybrid environment.

This role will focus on building software, automation, and infrastructure services that manage the foundational compute environment across multiple data centers. The ideal candidate is a software-minded infrastructure engineer who understands how systems operate under the hood and can apply software engineering principles to infrastructure lifecycle management, orchestration, monitoring, and automation. Focused on helping automate bare-metal server environments, modernize legacy infrastructure, improve operational resiliency, and build the tooling needed to manage infrastructure at scale.
