Job summary

Newmark is seeking a senior software architect to own the technical direction of cross-team, full-stack initiatives. You will design scalable web apps and cloud-native services, while guiding AI-driven workflows and setting engineering standards across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field preferred.
• 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with demonstrated experience architecting full-stack web applications at scale.
• Expert-level proficiency in modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (React, Next.js) and backend languages (C#, Node.js, Java).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems design, microservices, and API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud-native architecture patterns.
• Hands-on experience building or integrating agentic AI systems, LLM-powered apps, or AI agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, MCP).
• Proven track record of leading large-scale technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Strong background in database design (SQL and NoSQL).
• Deep understanding of CI/CD, IaC, and DevOps practices.
• Preferred: multi-agent systems design, event-driven architectures, and real-time data processing (Kafka, Kinesis).
• Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Previous work in commercial real estate, fintech, or related domains.
• Thought leadership through talks, articles, or open-source contributions in applied AI.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the technical architecture for cross-team full-stack initiatives.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable web apps and distributed services in a cloud-native environment.
• Architect and integrate agentic AI workflows into engineering and product systems.
• Set engineering standards for code, design, testing, and deployment including AI tools.
• Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance across teams.
• Translate business strategy into scalable technical roadmaps, including AI capabilities.
• Identify and resolve systemic performance, reliability, and scalability issues.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to raise technical standards.
• Drive adoption of modern frameworks, tools, and AI tooling for velocity and resilience.
• Stay aware of emerging AI and automation tech, assess relevance to business.
