Job summary

Protingent is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer for on-site operations at Fort Meade, MD. You will design, build, and run large-scale cloud services, lead on-call rotations, and drive reliability through instrumentation, automation, and incident reviews.

You will mentor engineers, improve SLOs/SLIs and observability, and apply AI-assisted techniques while ensuring compliance with FedRAMP/IL6 and cybersecurity standards in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating large-scale cloud services in production.
• Experience with FedRAMP and IL6 compliance.
• Strong Kubernetes troubleshooting in production.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform and Helm.
• Proficiency in Go or Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale cloud infrastructure and services.
• Participate in on-call rotation for high-availability systems.
• Lead incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Define and improve SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Improve observability with metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, alerts.
• Develop automation using Go, Python, Terraform.
• Automate toil and enable platform engineering.
• Enhance deployment safety with CI/CD and GitOps.
• Build self-service platforms and guardrails for velocity and security.
• Lead reliability initiatives across teams.
• Mentor engineers in design reviews and incident analysis.
• Apply AI-assisted engineering for incident response and automation.
• Support systems under FedRAMP/IL6 compliance.
