Protingent Staffing is seeking a Staff Network Site Reliability Engineer for Fort Meade, MD to lead a Federal SRE team and partner with software engineers, architects, and product teams to design, build, and operate highly reliable, secure cloud services.

You will design scalable network solutions across cloud environments, maintain a highly available edge for an enterprise identity platform, and automate AWS infrastructure with Terraform while complying with FedRAMP/IL6.

Qualifikationen

• Experience with FedRAMP/IL6 compliance in a Federal/DoD environment.
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking and related services (Transit Gateway, VPN, Direct Connect).
• Ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders (engineers, architects, product teams).
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP layers 2-7 and VPC interconnectivity.
• Ability to analyze logs and packet captures to troubleshoot network issues.

Staff Network Site Reliability Engineer

Position Description:

Protingent Staffing has an exciting Direct Hire Staff Network Site Reliability Engineer opportunity located in Fort Meade, MD

Job Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical leader within a Federal SRE team, partnering with software engineers, architects, and product teams to design, build, and operate highly reliable, secure cloud services
• Design and implement scalable, highly available network solutions across cloud environments
• Maintain a highly available cloud infrastructure edge for an enterprise identity platform
• Collect and analyze data to find root causes of network-specific events
• Automate AWS infrastructure with Terraform, following an "if you do it more than once, automate it" mindset
• Improve efficiency, scalability, and velocity through platform engineering, observability, and operational excellence
• Support systems operating under Federal and DoD compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, IL6)

Job Qualifications:

• Proven experience with Federal and DoD compliance frameworks, specifically FedRAMP and Impact Level 6 (IL6); familiarity with SC2S/C2S 8+ years of experience as a Cloud Network Engineer or in a related role
• In-depth understanding of the TCP/IP stack (Layers 2-7), including highly available VPC design and inter-VPC connectivity
• Working knowledge of stateless and stateful firewalls, DNS, web application firewalls, and cloud load balancing methods
• Deep knowledge of AWS networking: Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN, and Direct Connect
• Experience with Apache httpd, nginx, Apache Tomcat, or similar
• Ability to troubleshoot using AWS VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch metrics, and packet captures
• Experience with Terraform and git
• Strong collaboration skills across multiple stakeholders

Preferred:

• Bash, Python, or Golang scripting
• Palo Alto next-gen virtual firewalls (security policies, routing, GlobalProtect)
• Debugging with gdb, strace, ltrace, tcpdump, Wireshark
• Docker and Kubernetes
