Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Hivemind Simulation Platform to shape the testing of autonomous pilots. You will integrate simulators, develop Monte Carlo infrastructure, and build scalable real-time simulation capabilities for GNC and runtime assurance systems.

You will mentor engineers, drive technical direction, and collaborate with autonomy and RTA teams to translate evaluation needs into robust simulation interfaces.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 9 years with a Master’s; or 7 years with a PhD.
• Strong proficiency in C++, with production performance-critical software experience.
• Demonstrated experience building and running multithreaded/multiprocess real-time simulations involving aircraft dynamics.
• Experience developing Monte Carlo infrastructure and running simulation campaigns.
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams.
• Experience with a defined V&V lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Grow simulation framework ecosystem by integrating simulators and standards; build new ones as needed.
• Build reusable Monte Carlo infrastructure for parameterization, execution, and results collection.
• Develop multithreaded/multiprocess simulation capabilities, addressing timing and state exchange.
• Partner with autonomy, GNC, and RTA engineers to translate needs into interfaces.
• Support platform performance validation using physics models (6DoF, 3DoF).
• Set technical direction, lead design reviews, and mentor engineers.
