Job summary

OTH Capital, an Austin-based real estate investment firm, is seeking a Staff or Senior Accountant to support month-end close, property- and entity-level accounting, and fund reporting across the portfolio. This high-visibility role reports to the Controller and offers a clear path toward Senior Accountant as the platform grows.

You will collaborate with the investment team and managing partners, touching every entity in the structure, and you will help manage construction accounting,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–6 years of accounting experience, including exposure to real estate, multifamily, property management, or fund accounting.
• Solid command of accrual accounting and the full month-end close cycle.
• Demonstrated accuracy, follow-through, and comfort managing multiple entity closes on a deadline.
• Ability to work onsite in Austin.

Responsibilities

• Review month-end close packages prepared by property management accounting teams; test the work, question discrepancies, and ensure accuracy before roll-up.
• Review property-level financial statements for accuracy and consistent application of accounting policy across the portfolio.
• Own construction and development accounting; track costs, maintain CIP schedules, and monitor budget-to-actual by project.
• Prepare and review monthly draw packages, reconcile draws to funded amounts, and support lender/inspector requests.
• Track capitalization and placed-in-service timing; move completed projects into fixed assets.
• Perform close at the ownership entity level; journal entries, accruals, intercompany activity, and account reconciliations.
• Support monthly and quarterly investor and lender reporting, including variance analysis vs. budget.
• Assist with debt schedules, interest accruals, and loan covenant reporting.
• Assist with the annual audit and tax processes; pull schedules and coordinate with external auditors and tax preparers.
• Assist with entity compliance filings and annual compliance calendar.
• Flag and help close process gaps; identify manual work to automate.

The Role

What You’ll Do

• Review month-end close packages prepared by our property management accounting teams — test the work, question what doesn’t tie, and confirm the books are right before they roll up
• Review property-level financial statements for accuracy and consistent application of accounting policy across the portfolio
• Own construction and development accounting — track hard and soft costs, maintain construction-in-progress schedules, and monitor budget-to-actual by project
• Prepare and review monthly draw packages, reconcile draws to funded amounts, and support lender and inspector requests
• Track capitalization and placed-in-service timing, and move completed projects into fixed assets
• Perform close at the ownership entity level — journal entries, accruals, intercompany activity, and account reconciliations
• Support monthly and quarterly investor and lender reporting, including variance analysis against budget
• Assist with debt schedules, interest accruals, and loan covenant reporting
• Support the annual audit and tax processes — pull requested schedules, tie out balances, and coordinate documentation with external auditors and tax preparers
• Assist with entity compliance filings and the annual compliance calendar
• Help identify and close process gaps — we automate what we can, and we want someone who flags the manual work worth eliminating
  

What You Bring

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2–6 years of accounting experience, including exposure to real estate, multifamily, property management, or fund accounting
• Solid command of accrual accounting and the full month-end close cycle
• Demonstrated accuracy, follow-through, and comfort managing multiple entity closes on a deadline
• Ability to work onsite in Austin

Preferred

• Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct
• Experience with property management platforms (Yardi, AppFolio, RealPage, Entrata, or similar)
• Exposure to partnership accounting, fund waterfalls, or investor capital accounts
• Familiarity with BI or data tooling (Power BI, Looker Studio, SQL) — not required, but a real plus
