Job summary

LiveKit is seeking a Staff Security Engineer to drive security across the stack—from applications to infrastructure and developer workflows. You will champion secure-by-default architectures, lead threat modeling, and guide engineering teams in secure coding practices.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, running secure reviews, and incident response readiness. You’ll collaborate across teams, stay current with threats and tooling, and help harden the platform to prevent issues before they reach

Qualifications

• 6+ years as a software engineer with a strong interest in security engineering.
• Led or heavily contributed to security engineering across applications or infrastructure.
• Threat modeling, secure coding practices, and vulnerability management.
• Experience with CI/CD systems, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), and containerized environments.
• Responded to real-world security incidents, led postmortems, or remediation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Own security across the stack — applications, services, infrastructure, and developer workflows.
• Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks in both infrastructure and application codebases.
• Lead secure code reviews, architecture discussions, and threat modeling sessions.
• Build tooling and automations to prevent security issues before they reach production.
• Harden authentication and access control across internal and external surfaces.
• Partner with engineers to design secure-by-default APIs, workflows, and deployments.
• Investigate vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and manage disclosure when needed.
