Job summary

Staff Security Engineer: Developer Tooling

HW3 is partnering with a technology company to hire a Staff Security Engineer to help build security into the tools and systems its engineers use to develop and ship software. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with room to lead technical work across teams.

You'll work at the intersection of security, software engineering, and developer infrastructure. The focus is on building tools and automation that make secure development easier at scale, including work connected to cloud infrastructure and emerging AI-enabled workflows.

What you'll do

• Design and build security capabilities within developer tools and engineering workflows.
• Write code and automation that help teams find, prevent, and resolve security issues earlier in development.
• Partner with software and infrastructure engineers on secure approaches to build systems, deployment workflows, and cloud infrastructure.
• Review designs and code, identify meaningful risks, and help teams implement practical solutions.
• Evaluate security implications of new developer and AI-enabled tooling.
• Lead technical projects across teams and help engineers adopt the tools and practices you build.

What we're looking for

• At least 7 years of relevant security engineering or software engineering experience.
• Strong coding ability and experience building tools or automation used by other engineers.
• Experience securing developer workflows, software delivery systems, or cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AWS and Kubernetes environments.
• The ability to lead technical work independently while collaborating closely with engineering teams.
• Clear communication, curiosity, and a practical approach to solving security problems at scale.
