Job summary

Scripps Research in La Jolla, CA, invites a Staff Scientist to lead projects in chemical and structural biology, focusing on engineered transmembrane proteins and cellular signaling. You will guide experiments, develop purification workflows, and mentor lab members in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific discipline is required; minimum 2 years postdoc experience.
• Strong track record of research productivity evidenced by publications or patents.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with teams and management.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, analyze and troubleshoot cell biology experiments.
• Maintain clear written reports and present results to leadership.
• Train and mentor junior lab members in standard protocols.
• Collaborate with internal or external partners and coordinate with collaborators.
• Develop protocols for recombinant protein expression and purification.
• Characterize biochemical and biophysical properties of synthetic proteins and interactions.
• Execute protein–protein interaction and signaling assays in mammalian cells.
