Job summary

Verdantas is seeking an ambitious Scientist I in Middletown, CT to contribute to site development and remediation projects that improve environmental health and community resiliency. You will work with an experienced team on brownfields assessments, cleanup plans, and regulatory navigation, gaining hands-on field experience.

The ideal candidate holds a 0–4 year background in environmental science or geology, can handle fieldwork, and communicates clearly.

Qualifications

  • 0–4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field oversight and documentation for environmental tasks (drilling, groundwater sampling, site assessments, remedial activities).
  • Perform field sampling of media (soil, water, air, waste materials).
  • Oversee drilling/remediation subcontractors on-site.
  • Collaborate with field teams, subcontractors, and laboratory analysts to ensure quality data.
  • Manage environmental data and laboratory results using Microsoft Excel.
  • Review soil, water, and air data from labs and compare to regulatory criteria.
  • Interpret QC data to ensure data quality objectives.
  • Prepare preliminary technical reports for investigation activities.
