Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) to support pediatric care with 22 hours weekly, pay starts at $36.90/hour, and benefits eligibility. Shifts include Mon/Fri 7am-5:30pm, Tue-Thu 7am-7pm, with some weekend and holiday on-call.

Responsibilities include IV placement, IV meds, blood products, administering endocrine provocative protocols, blood draws, patient education, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • BSN or ASN with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years.
  • Current Ohio RN license.
  • Current CPR certification; willingness to obtain NRP, PALS, ACLS as required by the manager.
  • Must pass Pediatric Dosage Calculation test with 100% accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach and assesses patient needs.
  • Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Communicates patient care needs to the care team and referring practitioners.

Overview

Part‑time, 22 hours per week. Benefits eligible. Pay starts at $36.90/hour. Clinic Hours: Monday & Friday 7am-5:30pm, Tuesday-Thursday 7am-7pm. Some weekend and holiday on-call required. Required skills: IV placement and intravenous medication administration for patients of all ages. Administration of blood and blood products. Follow a variety of Endocrine provocative stimulation protocols. Blood collection from a peripherally placed IV. Documents and evaluates patient care and response to treatments. Communicates plan/response to referring practitioner as appropriate. Will collaborate effectively with all disciplines to facilitate patient outcomes. Provides education to patients and their families. Must pass Pediatric Dosage Calculation test at 100% accuracy.

Job Description Summary

Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

Essential Functions

Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs. Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel. Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices. Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families. Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.

Education Requirement

BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire, required.

Licensure Requirement

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Certifications

Current CPR certification required. Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.
