Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is seeking a registered nurse to support pediatric patients and families across locations, including Main Campus. The role requires travel to locations and occasional evenings until 6:30 pm as part of our rotation, with emphasis on health promotion and safe patient care.

The ideal candidate holds an OH RN license, a BSN is preferred (with completion within 5 years), and ACEN/CCNE-accredited education.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from ACEN/CCNE-accredited program.
  • OH RN licensure required; BSN preferred.
  • BSN to be completed within 5 years of start date.
  • Three years of pediatric clinical experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides pediatric nursing care using a family-centered approach.
  • Assesses patient needs, plans, implements, educates and evaluates care.
  • Documents per organizational standards and policies.
  • Collaborates with providers and the care team to ensure safe, efficient clinic flow.
  • Engages in quality improvement and data reporting discussions.

Needs to be able to travel to all locations listed as well as Main Campus. Some clinics run until 6:30 and this is a rotation.

Job Description Summary

Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention as they assist patients and families to move rapidly, uneventfully, safely, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care. Delegates, oversees and provides quality, safe and developmentally appropriate patient care.

Essential Functions

Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach. Assesses individualized patient needs and plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices. Ensures clinic processes and workflows comply with regulatory and policy compliance. Works closely with providers and other team members to ensure a smooth clinic flow addressing patient/parent concerns and attaining positive patient and family outcomes. Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures. Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.

Education Requirement

Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited school, required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred. Must successfully complete BSN within 5 years of start date.

Licensure Requirement

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio, required.

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association, required.

Experience

Three years of pediatric clinical experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
