Northrop Grumman Aerospace Sector is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead retrofit projects in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role emphasizes long-range retrofit planning, configuration changes, and field installation management on aircraft systems, with close collaboration among customers and IPTs to meet schedule goals.

The candidate will develop retrofit plans, provide cost/effort estimates, coordinate with the Retrofit Team, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring safety, quality, and compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 12+ years experience OR Master's with 10+ years OR PhD with 8+ years
• Field retrofit experience on aircraft or similar systems
• Proficient in Windows MS Word Excel Access PowerPoint
• Willing to travel 75% of the time; domestic and international
• Current active US Government Secret Clearance or ability to obtain

Responsibilities

• Manage and drive retrofit completion in the field with customers and field team to meet schedule requirements
• Resolve field challenges and develop strategies to avoid delays
• Prepare and deliver cost and effort descriptions for upgrades
• Coordinate with Retrofit Team and Engineering for planning, scheduling and execution phases
• Mentor junior team members and ensure safety and quality in field work
