Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Stroke for a nursing job in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Our South Shore Cardiac Unit is seeking tenured nurses passionate about serving their community. Newly Licensed Nurses are Welcome at $37.50/hr.

2MESG is an inpatient hospital unit with 28 beds, focusing on cardiac and neurological diagnoses including, but not limited to, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarcts, embolisms, stroke, TIA, and seizure disorders.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized care, involve families, and maintain therapeutic relationships.
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, coordinate with healthcare team for patient-centered care.
  • Implement safety strategies, assess and educate patients and families, and develop tailored learning plans.
  • Coordinate discharge planning, apply evidence-based practices, and adhere to standards of care.
  • Evaluate outcomes, support quality initiatives, and participate in governance and professional development activities.
  • Communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and demonstrate leadership within the care team.
  • Promote safety, report incidents, and assist in safety improvements.
  • Make ethical decisions, respect team members, and collaborate effectively.
  • Participate in quality improvement and professional growth activities.
  • Provide age-appropriate care, understanding growth and development stages.

Licensure and Certification:

  • RN license issued by the state of practice
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association

Education:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program

Experience:

  • Typically 1 year of clinical nursing experience
  • New grads are welcome with starting wages up to $35.90/hr for inpatient units

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Holistic patient care, recognizing changes, confident interventions
  • Proficiency with electronic records and communication tools
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Critical decision-making, teamwork, and time management

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, and perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Exposure to chemicals, blood, and body fluids with appropriate protective gear
  • Functional senses and fine motor skills for procedures
