Job summary

Google Quantum AI is seeking software engineers to advance quantum error correction software, including decoders and compilers, and to build scalable APIs that integrate with classical software and quantum hardware stacks. You will collaborate with researchers and engineers to support live QEC experiments on Google's quantum computers and help define roadmaps for a growing, interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development experience in C++ or Python.
• Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing algorithmic solutions for performance‑critical problems.
• Experience in systems‑level programming, code optimization, or HPC (concurrency, multithreading, or GPU acceleration).
• Experience leading technical design and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Propose, implement, and evaluate novel QEC decoding algorithms (e.g., for quantum LDPC codes) and automate evaluation pipelines.
• Architect and define scalable APIs to integrate syndrome decoders and diagnostic tools with the software and hardware stack.
• Partner cross‑functionally with research scientists and electronics engineers to support live QEC experiments on Google's quantum computers.
• Drive technical strategy, scoping, and roadmap prioritization for complex quantum software initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and technical guidance.
