Job summary

Google Quantum AI is seeking software engineers to develop scalable quantum error correction (QEC) software and syndrome decoders. You will design and optimize decoding algorithms, build APIs to connect decoders with the classical and quantum stack, and collaborate with researchers on live experiments.

The role emphasizes leadership in design reviews, roadmap planning, and mentoring junior engineers as you contribute to a practical quantum computing platform at Google.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE/Physics or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development using C++ or Python with data structures knowledge.
• Experience designing and optimizing novel algorithmic solutions for compute-intensive problems.
• Systems-level programming, code optimization, or HPC experience beneficial.
• Experience leading technical design and mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Propose, implement, and evaluate novel QEC decoding algorithms.
• Architect scalable APIs to integrate syndrome decoders with software and hardware.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers on live QEC experiments.
• Set technical strategy and drive roadmap for quantum software initiatives.
• Mentor junior engineers through design reviews and guidance.
