Job summary

AlphaSense in the United States is seeking a Staff Quality Engineer to own quality across the Expert Research portfolio. You will define the testing strategy, close gaps in critical customer workflows, and enable teams to ship faster with confidence by guiding QA direction without a dedicated QE team.

You will collaborate with developers on test planning, set release gates and quality metrics, test AI-powered features, and mentor engineers on shift-left practices while influencing multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on E2E automation experience with Cypress or Playwright and willingness to learn the other.
• Strong programming skills in at least one language (TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Java or Kotlin).
• Excellent test design skills including API testing and testing theory.
• Experience with unit and component testing frameworks and test-layer architecture.
• Track record of using AI tools to speed up software delivery and testing.
• Understanding of CI/CD and release gating.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term testing strategy for Expert Research and implement 'Quality by Design' and 'Automation by Default'.
• Close test coverage gaps across critical workflows like scheduling, sourcing, compliance, transcripts, and portals.
• Build and grow scalable end-to-end automation and determine layer responsibilities.
• Collaborate with developers on test planning to ensure automation is ready with new features.
• Set quality metrics and release gates for teams to measure and act on.
• Test AI-powered features and help validate their outputs.
• Leverage AI tools to speed up test design, maintenance, and triage.
• Coach engineers on shift-left and quality-by-design practices without direct authority.
