Job summary

AlphaSense is seeking a Staff Quality Engineer to own the quality across Expert Research. You’ll set the testing strategy, close gaps in critical workflows, and drive fast, confident shipping without a dedicated QE team.

You’ll work across multiple engineering groups, shaping practices and tooling to improve reliability and AI feature validation. You’ll lead end-to-end automation, collaborate on feature test plans, and define metrics that guide release decisions while mentoring peers in

Qualifications

• Hands-on E2E automation experience with Cypress or Playwright, and willingness to learn the other.
• Strong programming skills in Ruby, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, or Kotlin.
• Excellent test design including API testing and testing theory.
• Experience with unit and component testing frameworks and test-layer integration.
• Track record using AI tools to speed up software delivery and testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and test management tools.
• Ability to set direction independently without a dedicated QE team.
• Experience coaching engineers on quality across multiple teams.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term testing strategy for Expert Research, built on Quality by Design and Automation by Default.
• Close test coverage gaps on mission-critical workflows like scheduling, sourcing, compliance, transcripts, and portals.
• Build and scale E2E automation and decide on unit, component, API, and E2E boundaries.
• Partner with developers on test planning so automation is ready as features are written.
• Set quality metrics and release gates for teams to measure and act on.
• Test AI-powered features and help define validation of AI outputs.
• Use AI tools to speed up test design, maintenance, and triage; share learnings with others.
• Coach engineers on shift-left and quality-by-design practices across teams.
