Job summary

Mimica is hiring a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to own backend systems that interface with ML models. You will build core services and drive performance, scalability, and reliability across our AI-powered platform. You will lead one of multiple teams (Maker, Miner, Data Intelligence) and shape architecture, testing, and deployment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer with leadership responsibility.
• Strong Python and backend engineering skills.
• Experience with async/concurrent programming.
• End-to-end ownership from design to monitoring and deployment.
• Proven ability to write maintainable tests.
• Experience with observability and tracing.
• Memory management and performance optimization focus.
• Mentoring and coaching others in software practices.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Write Python applications that are resilient and integrate with a service-oriented architecture.
• Mentor teammates to write clear, testable code.
• Develop observability and GenAI/LLM integrations using Grafana stack.
• Build integrations with Google Services and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and ML Engineers across the lifecycle.
• Triage incidents, diagnose CPU/memory/GPU issues.
• Document procedures and guides for knowledge sharing.
• Assist in hiring and onboarding, plus end-to-end project management.
