Job summary

SiriusXM Radio, Inc. is seeking a Staff Python Engineer to provide technical leadership across ad trafficking and billing platforms. You will shape architecture, modernize legacy systems, and drive cloud-native transformation, owning end-to-end delivery and cross‑team collaboration.

You’ll mentor engineers, influence the long‑term roadmap, and work with Data/ML teams to optimize ad delivery and revenue recognition. Legal right to work in the U.S. is required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Python (Django, FastAPI, or similar) and backend architecture.
• Strong background in distributed systems and data pipelines (Celery, Kafka, Airflow).
• Experience with ad servers or delivery platforms (Google Ad Manager, AdsWizz, Triton).
• Hands-on AWS and Kubernetes experience, including infra automation and scaling.
• Knowledge of observability tools (Datadog, Sentry, Grafana) and CI/CD.
• Proven track record in mentoring engineers and cross-team initiatives.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable ASP services for multi-platform ad delivery.
• Evolve the Slingshot platform toward event-driven, cloud-native architectures.
• Own end-to-end delivery from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams.
• Partner with Data/ML teams for ad selection, pacing, and anomaly detection.
• Champion observability and reliability with modern CI/CD practices.
• Mentor engineers and drive architectural direction.
• Shape the long-term technology roadmap for ad tech goals.
