Job summary

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant assists the Staff Therapist with patient related activities and direct patient care. This role supports treatment plans, records notes, and helps maintain the department.

You will treat patients as directed by the PT, participate in care conferences, train staff and families for discharge, and ensure equipment is safe and available. The position requires collaboration with nurses and other health professionals in a post-acute setting.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state.
• Proficient with Casamba and Point Click Care.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to communicate with managers, coworkers and families.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients as directed by Physical Therapist.
• Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes.
• Assist in maintaining department.
• Participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences, as needed.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of treatment area.
• Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
• Assist nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
• Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problem and plans.
• Participate in in-services training program for other staff in the facility.
• Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
• Instruct patient’s families or nursing staff in maintenance program and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.
• Report any problems with department equipment so that it is maintained in good working order.
• Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients/residents, families, staff and professional colleagues.
