Job summary

Wesleyan University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) seeks a psychotherapist to provide individual and group psychotherapy to students, with involvement in clinical assessment, risk management, outreach, and supervision of trainees. The role reports to the CAPS Director and supports a wide range of mental health concerns within a collaborative campus setting.

The position is 37.5 hours per week over 43 weeks, with one evening per week and limited evening appointments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology or social work with a minimum of two years of clinical professional experience working with clients who present with a broad range of mental health concerns or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Current Connecticut licensure or eligibility to obtain CT licensure as LCSW/LPC/LMFT or LP in CT or psychology license upon hire.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a substantial clinical caseload in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Experience maintaining timely and accurate clinical documentation of case files in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive clinical support.
• Demonstrated commitment to working within a diverse environment and with historically marginalized communities.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy for students with a wide range of mental health concerns.
• Conduct clinical assessments and provide treatment planning, referrals, and coordination of care.
• Provide consultation regarding student mental health concerns to students, faculty, staff, administrators, and campus partners.
• Develop and provide mental health outreach, prevention, education, and training programs.
• Collaborate with student organizations and campus partners to identify community needs and develop responsive programming.
• Provide clinical supervision to trainees.
• Maintain clinical case files in accordance with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
