Job summary

fomo in NYC is seeking a Staff Product Designer to own end-to-end product design for multiple product lines including spot trading, tokenized equities, and perps. You will set design direction with founders, product, and engineering, and shape the systems, patterns, and standards that surface is built on.

This is a hands-on IC role: you’ll be in Figma and prototypes daily alongside frontend engineers. This role is in-person in NYC with a strong in-person culture and a spacious SoHo office.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in product design with staff or lead level experience.
• Strong portfolio showing craft and strategic impact.
• Ability to set direction for a product or platform.
• Ability to influence founders and leaders without formal authority.
• Excellent prototyping skills and willingness to iterate with AI tools.
• Comfort with autonomy in a small, flat team and helping it grow.
• Experience designing complex consumer financial products with real-time data.
• Crypto trading experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of a full product line across mobile and web from problem framing to shipped product.
• Set design direction with founders and engineering: define what to build and why.
• Keep multiple products coherent so users move between them without relearning.
• Lead the fomo design system architecture for core patterns and standards.
• Prototype fast to test interactions, partnering with frontend engineers through implementation.
• Raise the craft bar through critique and clear design principles.
• Help build the design team: hiring, interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring.
• Push AI and new tooling to design and ship faster.
