Job summary

Databricks is seeking an IC design lead for Omnigent to guide how humans and fleets of agents work together across desktop and mobile. You’ll ship small design changes in the codebase and prototype your way through large, ambiguous problems that lack a spec.

You’ll own the design direction, partner with engineering and product, and translate what agents can do into experiences that feel clear, controllable, trustworthy, and surprisingly effortless.

Qualifications

• Builder-designer who works fluently with AI tools and uses prototypes to explore larger, ambiguous problems.
• Portfolio showing end-to-end craft in interaction design, visual polish, and design systems, ideally on developer tools or enterprise software.
• Staff-level scope with a track record of shipping complex developer products and leading design direction on hard problems.
• Self-directed and comfortable in ambiguity, helping shape product direction when the path isn’t defined.
• Strong collaboration with engineering and product, raising critique quality and decision clarity.

Responsibilities

• Own the desktop and mobile experience for live agent sessions end to end – from strategy and interaction models to visual polish and shipped detail.
• Design directly in the codebase for well-scoped changes, working alongside engineers to ship real improvements rather than handing off static mocks.
• Use prototypes as a primary thinking tool. For large, vague problems, build interactive prototypes to explore and align the team.
• Invent the interaction language for agentic work: real‑time multi‑agent sessions, watch/co‑drive/fork flows, and trust through transparency.
• Define durable UX principles and interaction frameworks for agent collaboration, approvals, and observability that other teams reuse.
• Drive cross-platform consistency with a scalable design system across desktop and mobile.
• Ground decisions in evidence by testing ideas with real usage and iterating.
