Airbnb, Inc. is seeking a Staff Engineer to join the Service Tools team, owning a platform-spanning area of the developer lifecycle end to end.

You will shape technical direction, drive AI-assisted development, and scale build and test infrastructure for a very large JVM monorepo. In this role you will mentor engineers, raise reliability and performance, partner with multiple Airbnb orgs to drive adoption, and help define the future of developer experience, velocity, and observability across the

Qualifications

• Track record owning platform or infrastructure areas end to end.
• Deep hands-on build systems experience with large monorepos.
• Extensive JVM experience (Java/Kotlin) and performance awareness.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
• Data-driven approach to sizing problems and verifying fixes.

Responsibilities

• Own a platform-spanning workstream (agentic workflows, build, test).
• Advance AI-assisted development platform and integrations.
• Scale build/merge infrastructure for a large JVM monorepo.
• Improve testing coverage, automation, and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and drive cross-team alignment on roadmaps.
