Job summary

Fieldguide is hiring a Staff Platform Engineer to design and evolve the core platform that powers all products and AI agents. You will own foundational services, APIs, and shared primitives, working across product, design, and engineering to reduce complexity and increase reliability.

You will lead multi-team initiatives, mentor engineers, and shape platform investments across SaaS, enterprise, and government-cloud environments, with a focus on speed, scale, and trust.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record building product-facing platforms or foundational services.
• Strong experience designing APIs, services, and shared systems used by other engineers.
• Fluency with modern cloud platforms (AWS preferred), Kubernetes, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evolution of Fieldguide's core platform services and APIs.
• Build reusable platform capabilities to accelerate product and AI engineering.
• Define architecture across SaaS, enterprise single-tenant, and government-cloud environments.
• Partner with product/design/AI leads to translate customer needs into platform investments.
• Drive cross-team initiatives to improve velocity, reliability, and consistency.
