Ladders is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to lead the technical direction for scalable cloud operations and self-service tooling. You will partner with engineering teams to design, implement, and standardize platform services, driving reliability and efficiency across deployments.

The role emphasizes architecture leadership, collaboration across teams, and a long-term infrastructure strategy with a focus on production readiness and observability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software or infrastructure engineering.
• Proficiency in languages like Go, Python, or TypeScript.
• Experience with distributed systems and high availability design.
• Expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and IaC (Terraform).
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proven track record of guiding technical direction and mentoring teams.
• Hands-on knowledge of observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for platform capabilities and develop long-term cloud and reliability plans.
• Lead architecture discussions and guide technical decisions throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Design and maintain platform services and automation tools across multiple programming languages.
• Build self-service systems to enable engineers to deploy and manage services independently.
• Create and enhance standard workflows for service development and delivery, including libraries and templates.
• Improve core infrastructure components that support cloud operations and application needs.
• Define and use SLOs and error budgets to manage production reliability.
