Madison Reed is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Color Cloud, to own the foundational platform and backend services powering the business. You will architect and ship APIs, data models, and integrations that cross multiple teams.

In a cross-functional, AI-enabled environment, you will lead platform strategy, ensure reliability, security, and observability, and mentor engineers while shaping long-term architectural direction.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with production backend systems in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Designing, shipping, and maintaining high-throughput platforms at scale.
• Architect API, data models, and service boundaries for multi-team use.
• Secure coding practices and observability for production systems.
• Own CI/CD, error rates, and behavior under real-world load.
• Experience using frontier AI tools to improve workflows while retaining ownership.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across teams.
• Ability to balance technical and business considerations in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Own the core platform end-to-end: architect, build, and ship services, APIs, and data models.
• Drive platform technical strategy and set standards for a multi-team platform.
• Build AI foundation to integrate LLMs and agents into core workflows.
• Engineer for scale, reliability, and security with observability and secure coding.
• Own contracts and APIs used by downstream teams; ensure compatibility and DX.
• Own reliability in the wild: CI/CD, monitoring, incident response.
• Take ownership of large initiatives; refactor and optimize codebase for growth.
• Mentor engineers, establish reusable patterns and code review practices.
• Collaborate with product and leadership to align technical solutions with business priorities.
