Job Overview

The Pharmacist - Staff is responsible for assisting with the supervision of medication management in the hospital. This includes dispensing, policies, procedures, compliance with state and federal regulations, financial oversight, supervision of pharmacy staff, and clinical responsibilities. The Pharmacist – Staff reports directly to the Director of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

1. Practice pharmacy in accordance with Ohio Revised Code and all applicable Federal laws.
2. Adhere to hospital policies.
3. Coordinate medication dispensing.
4. Develop and update pharmacy policies and procedures.
5. Manage relationships with medication suppliers to ensure value.
6. Develop new pharmacy initiatives.
7. Integrate pharmacy services into hospital functions.
8. Coordinate interdepartmental services.
9. Ensure safe, appropriate, and cost-effective medication use.
10. Promote staff development and department competency.
11. Implement quality improvement programs.
12. Maintain medication supply and control, including controlled substances.
13. Manage patient charge systems and pharmacy budget.
14. Participate in internal control and compliance activities.
15. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
16. Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
17. Participate in new employee orientation.

Qualifications

1. Leadership and strategic planning skills.
2. Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
3. PharmD or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school; MS or MBA preferred.
4. Current Ohio State Board of Pharmacy licensure or ability to obtain it.
5. 5-10 years of experience in a health-system pharmacy setting preferred.
