Job summary

True Anomaly seeks a Staff Optomechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and integration of high‑performance infrared optical systems for spacecraft payloads. You will serve as a senior technical authority across EO/IR programs, developing designs that endure harsh thermal and dynamic environments while maintaining optical performance.

You will work with optical, thermal, electrical, and systems teams from concept through production, defining standards and approaches for the Payloads

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years in optomechanical design, with infrared optical or sensor systems.
  • Expertise in flexure mounts and athermalized design techniques.
  • Experience with structural and thermal analysis tools and 3D CAD with GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Lead optomechanical assemblies for IR telescope and sensor systems.
  • Develop athermalized designs to maintain alignment across temperature ranges.
  • Design and integrate cooling solutions for optical components and detectors.
  • Perform structural, thermal, and thermo-elastic analyses under vibration and thermal gradients.
  • Collaborate with optical designers to translate prescriptions into manufacturable designs.
  • Lead optical alignment and metrology activities using interferometry and CMM.
  • Evaluate vibration isolation for sensitive optics and define design standards.
  • Create CAD models, drawings, and supplier specifications.
