Job summary

Relativity Space seeks a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer to bridge optical and mechanical disciplines for advanced optical systems used in deep‑space missions. You will design structures, mounts, and mechanisms that preserve alignment through thermal variation, launch vibration, and gravity release.

You’ll partner with the Optics and Optical Communications teams as well as the Mechanical Engineer on analyses and integration, bringing 5+ years in the field and a strong CAD/FEA background.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in opto‑mechanical design for precision optical systems.
• Strong understanding of opto‑mechanical design principles.
• Proficiency in CAD modeling for optical or precision mechanical assemblies.
• Experience using FEA to evaluate opto‑mechanical structures for gravity sag, thermal distortion, and vibration response.

Responsibilities

• Bridge optical and mechanical disciplines for advanced optical systems.
• Design structures, mounts, and mechanisms that preserve alignment through thermal variation, launch vibration, and gravity release.
• Collaborate with optics, optical comms, and mechanical engineers on specifications and analyses.
