Description
Responsible for the care activities and goal achievements of assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning, and intervening in actual or potential health problems, and evaluating patients' responses to care. Responsible for health teaching and discharge planning. Acts as a member of a designated care team, collaborating, coordinating, and guiding team members in planning patient care activities. Demonstrates behaviors reflecting scientific knowledge, judgment, and teaching skills of a professional nurse.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments based on interviews, examinations, observations, and review of patient records.
- Ensure patient progress or lack thereof is documented in progress notes and care plans.
- Participate in discharge planning, ensuring it aligns with the patient's status and involves inter-departmental and inter-agency communication.
- Communicate information to patients suitable to their awareness and readiness to learn.
- Support orientation of new staff by observing professional behaviors, providing feedback, and acting as a preceptor and role model.
- Function as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers.
- Assign patient care tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels.
- Organize care provision to meet priority needs of patients and the unit.
- Communicate patient and unit conditions requiring additional intervention to relevant leadership.
- Participate in staff development and practice appraisal.
- Collaborate with peers and other disciplines to meet patient and unit needs.
- Provide direction, assistance, and support to team members.
- Take accountability for the completion and quality of assigned tasks.
- Identify and communicate training needs to supervisors.
- Engage with nursing leadership as a resource and role model.
- Reflect the department's philosophy, goals, and objectives in interactions with families and groups.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Nursing program; BSN preferred.
- Current RN license (e.g., RN (1 Year) issued by DOH / Office of Professions).
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification (required for L&D, NICU departments).
- BCLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum 1 year of NICU experience.
Compensation
The salary range is $61.76 per hour, depending on experience, education, and operational needs. This does not include bonuses or other benefits.
