Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test for Fort Meade, MD. This role serves as the sole QA resource in a restricted environment, acting as the technical authority on quality and releasing certification for platform updates.

You will collaborate with development leads to plan tests, develop end-to-end test plans, and maintain automation to certify weekly releases, ensuring uptime and reliability for mission-critical software.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software QA experience focused on release-based testing and validation.
• 4+ years of experience in a SaaS environment.
• 4+ years developing and executing end-to-end or system test plans.
• 4+ years setting up and maintaining test configurations and lab environments.
• Experience on both server and client side of device technology.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the sole QA resource in a restricted environment, acting as the technical authority on quality.
• Validate and certify all platform releases, ensuring critical customer flows remain intact and reliable.
• Analyze and refine requirements with Development and Engineering Leads, focusing on test planning and scope to certify releases.
• Develop, maintain, and debug end-to-end/system test plans and existing test automation to certify weekly releases.
• Set up and maintain all test configurations and lab environments for end-to-end/system testing.
• Review changes entering test and staging to ensure compatibility with customer deployments.
• Understand top customer usage patterns to define and prioritize critical test coverage.
• Partner with Development and Release Teams on product infrastructure growth and high availability.
• Participate in a scrum team environment and manage deliverables with minimal supervision.
• Support overall QA efforts of the software deployment and release teams.

Job Responsibilities:

Job Qualifications:

• 4+ years setting up and maintaining test configurations and lab environments
• Experience on both the server and client side of device technology
• Proven ability to understand, debug, and maintain existing automation code (e.g., Java-based) to diagnose failures; heavy development experience not required
• Comfortable wearing multiple hats across the software lifecycle, from product infrastructure and release versioning to final certification
• Passion for uptime and reliability of large-scale, mission-critical software
