Job summary

KellyMitchell is seeking a Network Site Reliability Engineer to support and enhance enterprise network infrastructure using SRE principles. You will improve reliability, observability, and operational efficiency with automation in Python and Ansible.

The role emphasizes routing, SD-WAN optimization (Versa where applicable), Cisco switching and wireless, and Fortinet firewall support in a large, business-critical environment. Onsite in Spring, TX, with a long-term contract.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of enterprise network engineering and operations experience.
• Expert-level routing knowledge with emphasis on BGP.
• Strong enterprise networking, LAN/WAN and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience supporting SD-WAN environments.
• Hands-on Cisco switching and wireless technologies experience.
• Administer enterprise firewall platforms (Fortinet preferred).
• Strong Python scripting and network automation experience.
• Experience with Ansible or similar automation tools.
• Understanding of APIs and system integrations.
• Knowledge of network observability, telemetry and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and support reliable enterprise network services.
• Act as SME for routing technologies, especially BGP, and optimize SD-WAN.
• Manage Cisco Catalyst switching and Cisco wireless infrastructure.
• Support firewall platforms, preferably Fortinet.
• Develop automation using Python, Ansible, and APIs.
• Implement monitoring, telemetry, observability, and performance optimization.
• Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Create and maintain technical docs and runbooks.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations and apps teams.
• Join on-call rotation for critical network services and manufacturing ops.

Job description

Job Summary Our client, a leading energy provider organization, is seeking a Network Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their team. This individual will be responsible for supporting and enhancing enterprise network infrastructure by applying Site Reliability Engineering principles to improve reliability, resiliency, observability, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in network engineering, routing, and network operations, along with hands‑on experience leveraging automation tools such as Python and Ansible to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement across large-scale, business‑critical environments.

Contract Details

Location: Spring, TX

Work Model: Onsite

Duration: Long-Term Contract (November 2026 - Through November 2027)

Core Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and support highly reliable enterprise network services
• Serve as a subject matter expert for routing technologies, with a strong emphasis on BGP Support and optimize SD-WAN environments, including Versa Networks where applicable
• Manage and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst switching and Cisco Wireless infrastructure
• Support enterprise firewall platforms, preferably Fortinet
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and API integrations
• Implement monitoring, telemetry, observability, alerting, and performance optimization solutions
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives
• Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support runbooks
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, operations, and application teams to ensure service reliability and scalability
• Participate in an on‑call rotation supporting critical network services and manufacturing operations

Required Skills & Experience (Must-Haves)

• 10+ years of enterprise network engineering and operations experience
• Expert-level understanding of routing protocols, particularly BGP
• Strong experience with enterprise networking, LAN/WAN technologies, and network troubleshooting
• Experience supporting SD-WAN environments
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco switching and wireless technologies
• Experience administering enterprise firewall platforms
• Strong Python scripting and network automation experience
• Experience with Ansible or similar infrastructure automation tools
• Understanding of APIs and system integrations
• Experience with network observability, monitoring, telemetry, and performance analysis
• Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts and practices
• Experience operating within large, business-critical enterprise environments
• Excellent communication, documentation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to participate in an on‑call support rotation

Preferred Skills & Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Versa SD‑WAN administration and engineering experience
• Cisco Catalyst Center experience
• Fortinet firewall expertise
• Datadog, NetBrain, and ServiceNow experience
• Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, energy, refinery, chemical, or operational technology environments
• Knowledge of Service Level Objectives (SLOs), incident management, observability, and reliability engineering principles
• Experience integrating network platforms with enterprise monitoring, orchestration, and ITSM solutions
