Black & Veatch seeks an experienced Staff Natural Resources Biologist to lead wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and field surveys across California and the Western US. You will support CEQA/NEPA documentation, identify regulatory requirements, and help develop avoidance and mitigation strategies.

The role emphasizes collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams on infrastructure, utility, water and energy projects, with travel across California and the Western US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, natural resources or closely related field.
• 5+ years of environmental consulting experience in California or Western US preferred.
• Experience preparing analyses for CEQA/NEPA with avoidance, minimization and mitigation measures.
• Working knowledge of California and federal regulatory requirements (CESA, ESA, CWA, 401/404) and permitting.
• Experience with wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and field documentation.
• Strong technical writing and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead wetland and waters delineations and habitat assessments for California projects.
• Conduct field surveys and collect data for environmental studies.
• Prepare analyses for CEQA/NEPA and coordinate mitigation measures.
• Identify applicable regulatory requirements and assist with permitting.
• Prepare permit applications and supporting materials for agencies (USACE, RWQCBs, CDFW, USFWS).
• Coordinate with agencies and project teams to define study needs and strategies.
• Provide technical consulting support and defend project documentation.
