Job summary

GHD is seeking a Biologist in Central California (San Luis Obispo) with a strong background in natural resources, NEPA/CEQA, and regulatory permitting. The role includes leading field efforts, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to proposals and business development.

You will join the US West NRIA group, supporting remediation and restoration projects, and collaborating with clients and regulators across a hybrid in-office/field schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing NEPA/CEQA documents, Endangered Species Act materials, and environmental permit applications.
  • Experience leading field tasks or small teams on natural resources projects.
  • Ability to coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers with scopes, schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Plan and conduct biological field surveys, habitat assessments, and monitoring.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications, mitigation plans, and monitoring programs.
  • Apply knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations to project tasks.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to junior staff and field teams.
