Job summary

Vercel is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Data Scientist to lead consumption forecasting. This staff-level role will architect the ML systems and modeling approach behind forecasting that powers financial planning, infrastructure investment, and executive decision-making.

You’ll define the company’s forecasting methodology from first principles, push modeling beyond off‑the‑shelf approaches, and build scalable ML systems that partner with Finance, Infrastructure, Product, and GTM leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or applied statistics, at staff or principal level.
• Deep expertise in advanced time-series forecasting and ML modeling techniques.
• Proven experience architecting and productionizing ML systems at scale (training, serving, monitoring, retraining).
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency with large-scale data usage.
• Experience partnering with Finance/executive leadership on planning cycles.

Responsibilities

• Architect end-to-end consumption forecasting ML systems for compute, bandwidth, edge functions, storage, and products.
• Develop multi-horizon forecasting systems from operational to long-range planning.
• Build ML infrastructure for backtesting, monitoring, drift detection, and explainability.
• Lead and mentor senior data scientists and ML engineers.
