Dandy is seeking a Staff Mechatronics Engineer to lead the mechatronic architecture for our precision robotics platform in a hybrid South Bay setting. You will bridge high-level robotics theory with hands-on hardware, driving rapid prototyping through production-ready systems for prosthetics manufacturing.

The role requires 8+ years in hardware/mechatronics, a strong track record in complex electromechanical systems, and expert CAD skills. Travel ~20% is expected in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of machine-building experience in hardware or robotics engineering.
• Led at least one complex electromechanical system from concept to production ramp.
• BS/MS/PhD in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering.
• Demonstrated leadership across teams without formal authority.
• Expert CAD skills and deep knowledge of fabrication/machining processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-project management abilities.
• Willingness to travel to suppliers and facilities ~20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechatronic architecture for the SPM platform family and guide roadmaps.
• Architect and integrate robotic hardware with actuators, sensors, and control.
• Design versatile manufacturing platforms using additive and subtractive processes.
• Set standards: reviews, tolerance analysis, FMEA, and validation practices.
• Lead rapid prototyping and conduct thermal/structural analyses and testing.
• Coordinate across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams.
• Influence 2–3 year automation goals and buy-or-build decisions.
