Job summary

The Talent Mine is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer, Optical Payloads in the greater Seattle area. You will lead the mechanical design and integration of satellite optical payloads, ensuring compatibility with spacecraft structures and meeting stringent mechanical requirements across the program lifecycle.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in mechanical/aerospace engineering with 10+ years of experience, including optical payload design, and proficiency in CAD Creo/Windchill.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 10+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience maturing designs from concepts to manufacturing drawings in satellite/launch.
• Experience in optical system mechanical design.
• Familiarity with space system design requirements.
• Experience leading small to moderate cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and integration of satellite optical payloads into structures.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams across the program lifecycle.
• Develop plans addressing requirements, risks, and schedule.
• Produce and manage part drawings and BOMs.
• Document design data in reports and manufacturing systems.
• Support production by resolving build issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Develop tooling and support equipment as needed.
