Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Redondo Beach, CA, is hiring a Staff Engineer Mechanical (Level 5 - ITME) for an in-person role. You will lead mechanical design, testing, and integration for space vehicle systems, collaborating with program management, design, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires a Top-Secret/S SCI clearance, a STEM degree with substantial experience, and a proven ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects in a highly secure environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science degree in STEM plus 12 years of related engineering experience OR Masters of Science degree in STEM plus 10 years of related engineering experience.
• Experience in working on multi-disciplinary teams within IT&L or Manufacturing.
• Balance technical execution with team morale in high-intensity schedules.
• Strong long-term planning—resource allocation and schedule execution.
• Extensive technical experience with space vehicle mechanical systems, architecture, testing and manufacturing procedures.
• Excellent decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent written and oral communications and technical presentation experience.
• Requires an active Top-Secret/SSCI clearance with SSBI and CI Polygraph at time of application.

Responsibilities

• Design tests to verify system requirements and drive producibility in all phases.
• Develop detailed mechanical integration and test procedures for technicians.
• Document and remedy test anomalies and hardware non-conformances.
• Coordinate across disciplines to define operations and accomplish work efficiently.
• Engage with program management and systems engineering to support end-to-end mission goals.
