Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Staff Body Closures Handle and Latch Design & Release Engineer in California. You will own end-to-end development, integration, and release of handle and latch mechanisms, manage supplier relationships, and balance cost, weight, and timing while mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities include developing new technologies, setting standards (DFMEA, PFMEA), and coordinating with Body Engineering, Studio Design, Quality, and Customer Experience teams to meet program

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS preferred.
• 7+ years automotive engineering experience focused on latching systems.
• Hands-on CAD design experience for mechanisms, closures, or structural components; Catia V6 / Enovia PLM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take full end-to-end ownership for design, development, release, and lifecycle management of vehicle handle and latching mechanisms.
• Drive architecture and implementation of new handle and latch technologies.
• Establish and maintain core engineering standards, technical specifications, and quality documentation (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans).
• Lead root-cause problem solving for field and manufacturing issues, embedding campaign prevention into standards.
