Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a Design and Release Engineer for HLM hardware systems, responsible for handles, latches, locks, and related mechanisms. You will lead design, validation, release, and production implementation, ensuring safety, mass, cost, and timing targets across full lifecycle.

You will apply GPDS, manage CAD/PLM data, and drive supplier collaboration, documentation, and risk mitigation. A bachelor’s (and often master’s) in mechanical engineering plus 2+ years of relevant experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of engineering experience in design, development, validation, or launch of mechanical products.
• Experience with automotive latching or closure systems is a plus.
• Proficiency with CAD/PLM tools (CATIA, Teamcenter, 3DX) and BOM management.

Responsibilities

• Lead HLM system design and integration with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Apply GPDS to plan, schedule, and execute engineering deliverables.
• Review CAD models, drawings, and supplier data for compliance.
• Develop documentation including DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and verification records.
• Lead testing, validation, and root-cause analysis activities.
• Collaborate across regions, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
