Job summary

Intuitive Surgical is seeking a Staff Engineer, Manufacturing systems and Standards, to define how manufacturing equipment is specified, developed, and sustained across the global network. This high-influence role drives governance and standards through cross-functional collaboration, rather than direct execution ownership.

You will consolidate standards, develop enterprise equipment processes, and ensure alignment with safety and design regulations across robotics and minimally invasive care

Qualifications

• 12+ years engineering experience or 8+ years with Master’s in Staff Engineer level.
• Background in manufacturing engineering, automation, or equipment development.
• Proven success governing manufacturing standards across multiple sites or units.
• Strong understanding of equipment lifecycle management (requirements, qualification, deployment, sustainment).
• Ability to influence technical direction and decisions across the organization without direct authority.
• Ability to align diverse stakeholders and drive enterprise-level decisions.

Responsibilities

• Identify and consolidate existing manufacturing standards across business units.
• Develop and maintain enterprise equipment and process standards referencing industry standards and regulations.
• Document equipment lifecycle best practices from requirements through qualification, spares, transfers, and sustainment.
• Serve as the DRI for Equipment standards with governance, adoption, and value realization.
• Establish governance for ownership, review cadence, and cross-unit alignment.
