Job summary

Brivo is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the Devices Cloud platform, owning architecture, development, deployment, and operational excellence for distributed cloud services managing millions of IoT devices.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-functional initiatives, and deliver scalable, secure, highly available systems across global cloud infrastructure. Austin-based, full-time, competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Python development and Django-based backend.
• PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning and optimization.
• Kubernetes deployment, Docker container management and cloud-native apps.
• Distributed systems design with Linux, IoT device communication and remote management.
• CI/CD, Git, automated tests and release management workflows.
• Secure software engineering including authentication and API security.
• Observability (metrics/logging/tracing) for production systems.
• Proven cross-functional leadership on technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of global cloud-native IoT backend services.
• Develop high-performance distributed systems with scalable data models.
• Build and operate containerized apps in Kubernetes with reliable networking.
• Implement observability and proactive incident management.
• Drive security and engineering standards while addressing tech debt.
